This week, Apple announced details of the new iPad2. The popular tablet has been completely redesigned to be dramatically faster, thinner and a little bit smarter. Among the new features is a dual-core processor, a built-in gyroscope and front- and rear-facing cameras. It will also boast iOS 4.3, which includes a speedier JavaScript engine, iTunes home sharing for wireless streaming from PC to iPad, improvement tweaks to Airplay, built-in Photobooth and Facetime; SAP has just announced a new on-demand application, called Sales-On Demand that could soon rival Salesforce.com and Microsoft CRM Online. Sales OnDemand is part of a series of on-demand applications SAP is positioning as extensions to its on-premises ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems; Salesforce.com also unveiled its Service Cloud 3 platform. The third iteration of Salesforces cloud-based customer service platform lets businesses analyze and respond to customer feedback filtering from social networks such as Twitter and Facebook; Cisco announced two unified communications platforms aimed at small and midsize businesses and a global sales productivity initiative called Cisco Partner Advisor, which will provide agents to give partners immediate and personalized sales support to accelerate sales.

Libra for Android helps you track your weight using The Hacker’s Diet system

I’m getting fat; that’s what you see on the screenshot to the right — my gradual move from chubby to portly. But never mind the numbers, look at the pretty graph!

If you’ve ever read The Hacker’s Diet, this graph should be instantly recognizable. Each point shows the weight for a given day, while the trend line lets you see if you’re gaining or losing weight.

When I use my “main” PC, I have a homebrew solution for creating and maintaining this graph. But I’ve had to find a temporary solution for Android, and Libra is it.

It’s a beautifully simple app, very true to the spirit of The Hacker’s Diet. You can create a shortcut on your homescreen that brings you right into the data entry screen, so you just tap the shortcut every morning, feed in your weight for the day and hit OK, and then you get to see your progress (or lack thereof) on the graph.

The app remembers the previous day’s weigh-in, which makes it easy to enter today’s weight (as they’re usually not too different). The graph is zoomable and scrollable, and most importantly, you can export the data to CSV so you’re not locked into the app.

If you ever need to track your weight using an Android device for any period of time, Libra is one excellent solution.

Pre-orders for the LTE-powered One X begin April 22

AT&T has announced that its version of the HTC One X will launch just under three weeks from now, on May 6, with pre-orders for the device starting this Sunday, April 22. The phone will sell for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement, which is in line with other leading AT&T phones.

AT&T's One X packs a dual-core Snapdragon S4 chip, compared to the quad-core Tegra 3 powering the international version. The change is due to Tegra 3's lack of built-in LTE support, however the dual-core Snapdragon S4 is nothing to sniff at, and we've been impressed with the performance it's delivered in other phones like the HTC One S. Aside form the change in processor, AT&T customers can expect the same One X experience we described in our full review — same gorgeous 720p SuperLCD2 display, same 8MP ImageSense camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, backed up by HTC Sense 4.
